Tiered Service Model

PIA uses a three-tiered service model with options for extra analysis. The model includes a fixed-fee first tier to make budgeting easier. It provides an early, informed decision point before continuing with further analysis.

TIER 1

Product Identification Screening

Scope:

  • Visual + construction-based examination
  • Component genealogy
  • Markings / date codes / certification remnants
  • 3D imaging when appropriate
  • Photo documentation
  • Written ID memo (not a full expert report)

Tier one focuses on answering the question: “Can this product be identified by manufacturer and possibly model family?” It’s a fixed-fee screening to determine whether subrogation is viable — before you invest in labs, engineers, or joint exams.

Tier One Fixed Price: $1750

Tier One Option: Failure Analysis Screening

Failure analysis screening incorporates a non-destructive engineering review. It compares the item’s condition with the expected condition. This expectation is based on the item failing and resulting in a loss. PIA uses a database of items and their known failure modes as a basis of comparison. This database contains 15 years’ worth of information on failures of items that cause fires.

Tier One Option Fixed Price: $1000

TIER 2

Enhanced Identification

When Used:

  • Significant damage, but recoverable construction features remain
  • Exemplar comparison is required
  • Limited non-destructive testing is needed

Scope May Include:

  • Exemplar comparison
  • 3D imaging / CAD file generation
  • X-ray / CT imaging as necessary
  • Expanded exemplar comparison
  • Expanded component sourcing analysis
  • Coordination with materials laboratories (non-destructive)
  • Supplemental written report

Pricing Model:

  • Fixed fee quoted on a case-by-case basis
  • Typical range: $2,500 – $5,000

TIER 3

Litigation Support

When Used:

  • High-value losses
  • Anticipated or active litigation
  • Manufacturer disputes product attribution

Scope May Include:

  • Formal expert report
  • Daubert-aware methodology documentation
  • OEM rebuttal support
  • Deposition or trial testimony

Pricing Model:

  • Hourly or blended fee
  • Quoted separately
