Product Identification and Analysis (PIA) provides independent forensic identification of fire-damaged consumer products when labels, nameplates, serial numbers, and documentation have been destroyed. Our work supports subrogation screening, product liability litigation, and early claim decision-making—without crossing into fire origin & cause or defect analysis.

Why PIA Exists

With the closure of DPI, the industry lost a dedicated resource focused exclusively on early-stage forensic product identification. PIA was formed to fill that gap, using improved methods and new technology.

What We Do

PIA identifies the manufacturer and product family of fire-damaged consumer products by analyzing remaining construction features, internal components, and supplier genealogy, markings and certification remnants, and exemplar comparisons when appropriate.

When to Call Us

Contact PIA as soon as an unknown product is isolated—before destructive testing, joint exams, or unnecessary expert costs are incurred.
